J Ashley is a writer, producer and theatre and film consultant with a lifelong passion for storytelling, live entertainment and the arts. Born in London, J grew up surrounded by the arts and fell in love with theatre from an early age. His career began in creative education, where he taught drama to many thousands of children before moving into producing, writing and consultancy.

As a producer, J has worked across theatre, film and live entertainment, producing critically successful theatre productions, including large-scale touring musicals to more than 50 venues nationwide, as well as multi-award-winning films. As a writer, J is what he proudly describes as the self-branded King of the Tear-Jerker. He is passionate about stories that make audiences laugh, cry and, ideally, do both. He is currently developing a novel alongside two original musicals, for which he is also serving as lyricist.

J also works as a live entertainment consultant, collaborating with promoters, venues and businesses to bring their entertainment vision to life. Whether it is music, comedy, theatre or something entirely different, J combines creative thinking with practical production experience to help turn an idea into an experience audiences will remember. 

Alongside his creative work, J is a passionate champion of access and inclusion within the creative and cultural sector. He advocates for greater opportunities and better accessibility for disabled people working in and experiencing the entertainment industry, and is not afraid to challenge the status quo when change is needed.
